Hi Alisa.

Thanks for your email. It was great meeting Charlie face to face after talking virtually for the past decade and his charming wife in Paris. The book talk was the best we’ve had. You can’t beat the Parisians’ thirst for culture and art. The weather was good, so we sat in cafés. The authors wandered off like stray cats with a core group of me, Charlie and his wife, and Beverly, the president of the Yale Club of Brussles, who announced us keeping the conversation going.

The room was full. Beverly is a smooth and entertaining announcer, so she did a great job of setting the stage and letting everybody know about the donation to Doctors Without Borders and the award-winning and new authors. We passed the books around and the four of us read from our pieces.

We had drinks afterward in the Village Voice Bookshop, and then about 10 people followed us to the chic Les Editeurs restaurant where there were several publishers talking with writers, also young lovers and everybody else.

we all enjoyed the excellent company, dinner and French wine. Wish you were there. Maybe next year?

Yours truly,

Jocelyn
